Welcome to the Devil Rays!
Devil Ray Swim Families –
Welcome to the 2025 season of the Dearbought Devil Rays! We are so glad to have you with us. A warm welcome to new families and all our returning families.
Each week we will send out an email with important information for the upcoming week. We will do our best to limit any other emails but there will be additional emails regarding sign ups for meets and volunteer jobs. If you have any questions please reply to the email and we will get right back to you.
Meet and Greet:
This year we thought we’d try something new, a time for our team and pre-team swimmers to meet or get reacquainted with our coaches before the first practice. Join us for Coaches and Cookies on May 22nd from 6-7pm in the pool parking lot. Coach Lino, Coach Ella, Coach Luke and our Junior Coach staff will be there along with team volunteers to answer all your questions.
First Practice:
- Our coaches are looking forward to getting to know your swimmer.
- Tuesday, May 27th-First Practice.
- Practice times are listed on our website:www.dearboughtswim.org. At the top click practice schedule. We will practice in the evenings through 6/11. There will be no practice on 6/12 for the last day of school. Morning practices will begin on 6/13 and Pre-Team practices will begin on 6/16.
- We understand that swimmers may not make every practice due to other sports commitments, end of school activities, camps, vacations, etc. We encourage you to make as many as you can.
- Pre-Team evaluations will be held May 28th and 29th. Everyone registered for pre-team should receive an email with a link to sign up for an evaluation time slot.
- A committee member will be at the entrance to the pool to check swimmers in for the first few practices. This is to make sure that all waivers have been completed, registration payments made, and to direct swimmers to the coaches. You will not need to check in after the first time.
- A parent needs to remain on deck during practices for swimmers 10 and under.
- Dearbought residents must have a valid pool pass and be current with their HOA dues.
- Non-resident swimmers - please check in with the lifeguards for any practices held during regular pool hours.
- Swimmers can wear any suit to practice, however, girls should wear a one piece suit if possible.
- Bring extra towels – the water can be cold early in the season and extra dry towels help keep swimmers warm when they get out. You may also want your child to wear a swim shirt until the water warms up.
Parent Meeting:
- The mandatory parent meeting will be June 3rd at 6pm on the pool deck. This will be a brief meeting for all parents.
- Swim caps will be distributed after the meeting, each swimmer will be issued 1 latex cap for the season. If your swimmer has a latex allergy please reply to this email and let us know.. Replacement latex caps will be $5. If your swimmer prefers a silicone cap they will be for sale for $12, we will only be accepting cash and will not have change, but caps will be available at time trials and home meets at the concession stand, and you can use a credit card at that time.
- Sign ups for deck setup and re-set will be open after the meeting. Every family is required to sign up for one set up or re-set for the season. Set ups will occur the night before time trials and the two home meets. Deck re-set will be at the conclusion of time trials and the two home meets.
Swim Meets:
- Time Trial – June 7th. This informal meet is important to help swimmers and volunteers get reacquainted with the swim season and meet operations
- Home Meets – June 28th, July 12th
- Away Meets – June 14th June 21st, July 19th (Division Championship)
- Details about each meet as well as swimmer and volunteer sign ups will be sent out when the season starts.
Coaches:
We are pleased to welcome back Lino Barron Aguilar as our Head Coach and Jayden Cruz as our Assistant Coach. Our returning Pre-Team Assistant Coach will be Ella Wilson and joining her this year will be Luke Daniluck. We will also have several Junior Coaches assisting the coaches as well as other volunteers to make sure that each swimmer is receiving the coaching and feedback needed.
Spirit Wear and Swim Suits:
- Pool, Patios and Porches will again be handling our spirit wear and swimsuits. We will have the same suits as last year, but it is only a suit suggestion. While we do not have an official team suit, we do encourage you to shop local. Red or black suits are preferred.
- The order form and link to the online store can be found on our website by clicking Team Store and selecting Pools, Patios, and Porches.
- You can go to Pools, Patios and Porches at 2 Wormans Mill Court to try on suits and they can assist with proper sizing.
Swim Team Handbook and Other Information:
- Please review our Swim Team Handbook for important information about our season. The handbook can be found on our website. Our website contains a lot of useful information including important dates, schedules, and coach information.
Volunteers:
- We are in need of some key volunteers for the season. If you are interested in this role please respond to this email to let us know and we will get you more information.
- Stroke and Turn Officials – These individuals attend a 2-hour training to learn the rules for each stroke. They then serve on the pool deck during the meet to judge the swimmers strokes. We cannot have swim meets without stroke and turn officials, please consider volunteering for this role. Reply to this email for additional information or questions.
Fundraisers:
We already have 2 fundraisers planned for the season. Please see the attached fliers for more details.
